Words: "Rise and Rise again."
Associated Season: Newleaf
EarthClan, the honourable cats from the moors, are known around the loch for their resilience and strength. They are perhaps the most relaxed of the clans in terms of their adherence to warrior traditions and StarClan, perhaps because they have taken in the most loners and former kittypets over the years and from the fact they live only few miles from a farmers croft.
Beauty Standards
EarthClan consider compact, short hair cats in solid colours to be the best looking, especially if they have somewhat flat faces. Patterned, tall, or long haired cats are considered less attractive, ugly even. Green eyes are the best, blue eyes are okay, amber eyes are not so nice.
Breeds that would generally be considered attractive in EarhClan are:
British/American Short Hair
Scottish Fold
Manx Cat
Charteux
Bombay
Fighting Style
EarthClan, sturdy and strong, are able to fight for longer than perhaps any other clan. They have the stamina to carry them through long and arduous battles when others would tire, and they use this to its fullest potential. Earth cats often attack their opponents in small bursts, doing little damage but wearing down the morale and energy of the attacker; defeat by a thousand cuts.

TerritoryEarthClan live in the often wet and boggy Moorlands amongst swathes of purple heather and ferns. Their land is characterised by undulating hills with soft, muddy ground from the waters that flow down from the mountains, and by a variety of animals that no other clans can claim to know.
Roaming on the same moors as the cats here are sheep, reindeer, hares, mice, and all sorts of birds both of prey and not. |
CampAfter a Fire devastated their old camp on the western side of the territory, EarthClan was forced to relocate. They found sanctuary at the base of a mountain, in a deep valley with a single tree growing near the back-center. At the center of camp is the Giving Tree, a monster tree with gnarled roots and branches to the stars. Warriors sleep under the canopy of the tree, while apprentices, kits, queens, and elders sleep in dens dug into the valley's walls. Herbs are stored in the various nooks and crannies of the tree.

Separated by the pathway known as The High Line, the border with AirClan is very exposed to the elements with no tree coverage and steep incline, though the view it offers of the Loch and the Cairn beneath it is unrivalled. It is a rocky boulder field that is difficult to traverse for EarthClanners, but AirClan find the rocky terrain much like their home and are incredibly agile, leaping from rock to rock.
|
The main crossing of the river that splits EarthClan land in half. The clan uses this route to travel west to WaterClan or the Croft, as well as to hunt in the western half of the territory. It should be navigated with extreme caution, especially when ice or rain make the rocks slippery; the current of the river is so strong that even the most talented WaterClan cats would struggle to swim it.
|
A steep gorge with rapidly flowing water cascading through it. Apprentices are usually shown this place on their first outing into the territory, and warned that falling in means almost certain death. Often an overexcited cat has chased a rabbit to the edge only to fall to an untimely demise, but the Glen helps to keep the moors from becoming to wet and soggy, channelling much of the water from melted mountain glaciers safely to the Loch.
|
There is a vast and complicated system of tunnels that run beneath the moors of EarthClan, made by their founder and the origin of the clans name. Once upon a time the clan used to spend most of their time down there and their old camp is somewhere in the maze long since forgotten. It was abandoned generations ago when cave ins and lost cats proved to be too frequent occurrences, and the clan moved to their old home above ground. The Burrows are now abandoned with the old camp and likely further unstable due to fire.
|
The border EarthClan shares with the nearby croft. Sheep routinely cross this without a care in the world and they don't bother the cats much. They share some words with the cat tongue but often a reindeer interpreter is needed to understand them, and even then they are renowned for how stubborn they are.
